Law enforcement agencies in New Jersey have launched a massive manhunt for a suspect wanted in connection to the January 6th riot at the United States Capitol.
The suspect has been identified as 47-year-old Gregory Yetman, a former military police officer, with a history of service in the New Jersey Army National Guard and the U.S. Army.
The FBI, along with local law enforcement, began the search for Gregory Yetman after he evaded arrest during a recent operation in Helmetta, Middlesex County.
Yetman is described as a white male in his 40s, wearing a red jacket and a baseball hat at the time of the incident. Authorities have released his name and physical description to the public to aid in the search.
Gregory Yetman’s LinkedIn profile reveals his background in the military and law enforcement. He served for over 13 years with the New Jersey Army National Guard, where he held the rank of Sergeant with the 328th Military Police Company.
His duties included training lower enlisted soldiers, conducting law and order operations both in the United States and overseas, and providing security for various missions. He also served in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In addition to his military experience, Yetman worked in the civilian sector, serving as a foreman for High-Grade Excavating, INC. and operating his own business, Yetman Excavating, LLC.
His extensive experience includes training personnel, managing financial and business-related matters, and securing contracts for commercial and residential job sites.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant, as they anticipate increased police activity in the area, particularly on Main Street in Helmetta, Middlesex County. Helicopters and drones have been deployed to aid in the search for the suspect. East Brunswick police have reassured the community that there is no immediate threat to public safety.
Tactical teams from the FBI Newark SWAT, Jamesburg Police Department, and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are actively participating in the search for Gregory Yetman. They have called on the public for assistance, asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the FBI Newark at (973) 792-3000.
Gregory Yetman’s connection to the Republican Party has also come to light, as he is listed as a registered voter in Middlesex County, New Jersey. His political affiliation may become a part of the ongoing investigation.
