Trenton shooting homicide under investigation

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are investigating a shooting homicide that occurred early this morning.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., Trenton police responded to the first block of Oliver Avenue for a ShotSpotter activation. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

This was the capital city’s 25th murder in 2023, counting the Hispanic male found by Trenton police on Thursday, September 28, with several large lacerations to his head and face next to an abandoned delivery truck parked in an abandoned lot at the intersection of Chestnut Avenue and Swan Street.
