23-year-old man in South Plainfield charged with triple murder

A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged with triple murder following a shooting that left three people dead in South Plainfield, New Jersey, on Monday.

The incident occurred at around 9 a.m. Monday morning on Coppola Drive. Police responded to the scene after receiving reports of shots fired in the area.

Upon entering the condo, officers discovered three victims who had suffered gunshot wounds, two men and one woman, all of whom had been shot.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said two of the victims, 72-year-old Dilipkumar Brahmbhatt and 72-year-old Bindu Brahmbhatt, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third victim, 38-year-old Yashkumar Brahmbhatt, was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

An investigation led police to question a person of interest, leading to the arrest of Om Brahmbhatt, 23, of South Plainfield.

South Plainfield Police Chief Peter Papa said only that the 23-year-old suspect lived with the three people he killed at the Traditions condo complex on Coppola Drive and that he was at the residence when authorities arrived.

Brahmbhatt has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

He is currently being held in the Middlesex County Jail without bail.
