Most popular presidential candidate would finish dead last in voting

A recent Harvard CAPS-Harris poll shows that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has emerged with the greatest favorability rating among the top 2024 presidential candidates but he could finish dead last in the election.

Despite this surprising twist, the survey reveals that in a hypothetical three-way race, including Kennedy, disgraced former President Donald Trump would come out on top.

The poll results indicate that if the 2024 presidential election were held today, Republican Trump would secure 41 percent of the vote, while Democratic President Joe Biden would follow with 34 percent.

Kennedy, running as an independent after abandoning his pursuit of the Democratic nomination in reaction to cheating by Biden allies that undermined his ability to get on the ballot in ten states, would capture 17 percent, with the potential to increase to 25 percent if he secured all of the 8 percent of undecided voters.

In a two-way race, the poll shows Trump would win 53 percent of the vote, while Biden would lose with 47 percent.

This horse race outcome challenges the notion that Kennedy is the front-runner, highlighting the enduring support for established political parties among a significant portion of the American electorate.

Incredibly, the poll also reveals that 56 percent of Americans believe Trump would shake up the country for the better, compared with 44 percent who think he is a danger to democracy and will hopelessly divide the country if elected.

Months before the 2020 election, Trump refused to commit to a peaceful transition of power and after Election Day, he persisted in spreading lies asserting that he had in fact won, claims that were not only utterly unfounded but repeatedly exposed as false, in more than 60 court cases and elsewhere.

Kennedy’s independent candidacy, marked by the highest favorability rating, indicates a growing desire among voters for an alternative to traditional party politics.

Despite the numerical challenges he faces as a candidate, Kennedy’s appeal lies in his promise to bridge political divides and address economic disparities at their root.

As the 2024 presidential race unfolds, the dynamic between Kennedy, Trump, and Biden will undoubtedly shape the narrative of the campaign. While Kennedy leads in favorability, the poll underscores the formidable position that Trump continues to occupy in the minds of a majority of Americans, adding a layer of unpredictability to the upcoming election.
