Winter Weather Advisory issued for New Jersey: Up to four inches of snow expected

As New Jersey braces for yet another wintry blast, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, spanning from February 16 at 10:00 PM EST to February 17 at 10:00 AM EST.

The advisory warns of expected snowfall accumulations ranging from 1 to 4 inches across several counties in central, northern, northwest, and southern New Jersey, as well as portions of east central, northeast, and southeast Pennsylvania.

The advisory cautions residents to prepare for slippery road conditions as the snowfall is expected to commence late tonight, potentially impacting the Friday evening and Saturday morning commutes. While the snow may briefly intensify, particularly late tonight, it is forecasted to taper off early Saturday.

Among the counties under the Winter Weather Advisory are Warren, Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean, and Camden, among others. Residents are urged to exercise caution while traveling and to monitor local Department of Transportation updates for the latest road conditions.

The winter weather forecast also indicates a windy Friday across the Garden State, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph. Before the onset of snow, Friday is expected to be mostly sunny, with temperatures ranging from the upper 30s to low 40s.

The snowfall is projected to begin around 10 p.m. in North Jersey, moving southward. Up to 4 inches of snowfall accumulation are expected, particularly in Mercer and Middlesex counties and points south, with lesser amounts anticipated in North Jersey.

AccuWeather meteorologists have advised that while the impending snowstorm may not yield significant snowfall, it could still pose travel disruptions over the weekend. Philadelphia and Atlantic City are also expected to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow during Friday’s storm, potentially affecting nearby regions, including New York City.

Following the snowfall, a cold and dry Saturday night is forecasted, with temperatures dipping into the 30s. Residents should remain cautious of possible icy patches on Sunday morning as the newly fallen snow begins to melt and refreeze overnight.

The National Weather Service has provided detailed forecasts for various regions across New Jersey, outlining expected weather conditions and snow accumulations.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this winter weather event.
