Author Marianne Williamson declared that she is “unsuspending” her presidential campaign, claiming American voters are “watching a car crash in slow motion” with the current candidates.

Williamson, known for her progressive advocacy, announced her decision in a statement addressing the pressing issues facing the United States.

“I have an important announcement to make. As of today, I am unsuspending my campaign for the presidency of the United States,” said Williamson, emphasizing the gravity of the need to confront the looming threat of fascism.

Williamson, who initially suspended her campaign due to what she described as losing the “horse race” of traditional politics, now believes something far more critical is at stake. “We have a fascist standing at the door,” said Williamson, warning Americans to recognize the severity of the situation.

She critiqued the current administration, challenging President Biden’s approach, which she believes falls short of addressing the root causes of societal inequalities. “What is President Biden offering? ‘Let’s finish the job,'” she asked. “Are you kidding me? For whom is the economy really doing well?”

According to Williamson, the nation is in dire need of systemic change, emphasizing the urgency of reversing the corporate dominance of government.

“We the People basically don’t own this country right now,” she lamented, invoking Abraham Lincoln’s vision of a government “of the people, by the people, and for the people,” said Williamson, who outlined a bold agenda focused on progressive policies such as Medicare for all, tuition-free college, and addressing climate change through renewable energy initiatives.

“We need to ramp down, not keep ramping up fossil fuel extraction,” said Williamson, highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship.

In her impassioned plea, Williamson urged Americans to reject complacency and embrace a vision of hope and possibility.

“We need to say to the American people, we see your pain, and we need to say to Donald Trump, we see your BS,” she declared, urging citizens to join her in the fight for a brighter future.

The revival of Williamson’s campaign comes at a critical juncture in American politics, as the nation grapples with deep-seated societal challenges and a fractured political landscape. With her renewed candidacy, Williamson aims to galvanize support for transformative change and offer an alternative path forward in the face of adversity.

Williamson urged citizens to visit her campaign website to learn more about her policies and join her in the fight for a brighter future. With a resolute determination, she emphasized that the time for action is now, urging Americans to stand together and confront the formidable challenges ahead.

Williamson’s unexpected return to the presidential race injects a new dynamic into the political arena, signaling a rallying cry for those disillusioned with the status quo and seeking a visionary leader with bold solutions to address the nation’s most pressing issues.

“I suspended my campaign because we were losing the horse race. But there is something much bigger than the horse race that’s at stake here. In the words of Mohammed Ali, ‘When the mission is right, the odds don’t matter.’ We cannot sit idly by while the D.C. political class sleepwalks this country into disaster. Too many have followed the directives of the status quo for too long, but we are awakening now. We are ready to act, to take the wheel of history into our hands and turn it in another direction,” said Williamson.

“We need a President who stands for a new beginning in America, and whether I can help do that as President or in some other way, unsuspending the campaign is a necessary next step,” said Williamson.

President Joe Biden’s Democratic challenger announced she was suspending her campaign in a video three weeks ago, but she acknowledged in Wednesday’s video that she dropped out because “I was losing the horse race.”

“But, something so much more important than the horse race is at stake here. And we must respond,” said Williamson, whose announcement came just after the Michigan primary election results, where former President Donald Trump and Biden easily won their respective primaries, but with signs that some voters from both parties are unhappy about their likely nominee.

In her video, the author called Trump a “fascist” who must be defeated. She also questioned Biden and his economic agenda.

“What’s going on here? Well, I’ll tell you what’s going on here: ‘We the People’ basically don’t own this country right now,” she said, adding that presidential politics has become corrupt with corporate interests.

Williamson, a writer and progressive Democrat, ran to the left of Biden and hoped to appeal to voters who were unsatisfied with establishment party politics.

Critics have said her bid is not sophisticated enough to present a real threat to the Biden campaign, which has the support of the Democratic National Committee. She faced issues in her campaign before, experiencing staffing issues.

She argued Wednesday that “we need a president” who will eliminate student loan debt and provide Medicare for all, tuition-free college, paid family leave and guaranteed living wages, among other initiatives.

Williamson also highlighted the economic issues facing many Americans in her comeback message. A majority of Americans experience economic anxiety, and she argued that returning the country to a time when “we actually had a thriving middle class” is what it means to make America great again.

“Some people tell [me], ‘Miss Williamson, you’re delusional,’” she said. “I’ll tell you what’s delusional: What’s delusional is just closing our eyes and crossing our fingers and just hoping that somehow Biden and Harris will be able to beat that juggernaut of dark, dark vision.”
