McCormick blames ‘spineless’ party leaders for loss of abortion rights

Lisa McCormick, the progressive champion who took four of ten votes away from Senator Robert Menendez in the 2018 Democratic primary election, says voters do not need candidates to spend money in order to make the right choice.

New Jersey progressive Democrat Lisa McCormick unleashed a blistering critique, accusing party leaders of spinelessness and opportunism in the face of mounting threats to abortion access.

McCormick’s condemnation comes on the heels of controversial remarks by Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Carlos Muniz, who dismissed concerns about an abortion-rights measure as “a wolf coming as a wolf,” rather than the oft-cited “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

McCormick seized upon Muniz’s analogy to underscore the urgency of the situation, declaring that women’s rights advocates must be prepared to elect more “wolves” to combat the relentless assault on reproductive freedom.

“Women’s rights advocates need to elect more wolves,” said McCormick, lambasting Democratic establishment leaders for their tepid response to the erosion of abortion rights.

McCormick singled out former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other party stalwarts for prioritizing political expediency over principled resistance, citing instances where Democrats supported anti-abortion incumbents in pursuit of electoral gains.

“The Democratic political establishment deserves to share the blame with Republicans for failing to stop the assault on reproductive freedom in America,” said McCormick, denouncing what she perceives as a pattern of complacency and betrayal within the party ranks.

She accused Democratic leaders of using the specter of restricted abortion access as a fundraising tool while failing to muster the courage to confront the encroaching tide of anti-choice legislation.

Moreover, McCormick argued that the Democratic establishment’s timidity extends beyond reproductive rights, lamenting its reluctance to champion core progressive values such as economic equality and human rights.

She urged her fellow Democrats to shed their aversion to confrontation and embrace a more assertive stance in defense of fundamental principles.

“The Democratic political establishment remains too timid when it comes to standing up for fundamental values,” said McCormick, calling for a grassroots uprising to challenge entrenched power structures and hold elected officials accountable.

She called upon voters to reject complacency and demand bold leadership capable of confronting the existential threats facing American democracy.

As the battle over abortion rights rages on, McCormick’s impassioned plea is an indication that many progressives are disillusioned with the status quo.
