U.S. Senate Candidate Lawrence Hamm

Democratic Senate candidate Larry Hamm will appear at Zeppelin Hall in Jersey City on April 29 at 5:30 p.m., marking a significant moment in his campaign efforts to secure the party’s nomination for the upcoming primary elections in June.

Hamm, known for his progressive activism and previous challenge to Senator Cory Booker in the 2020 Democratic primary, brings a wealth of experience and a platform centered around key issues like Medicare for All, raising the federal minimum wage, canceling student debt, providing free college education, and advocating for reparations for African Americans.

The event at Zeppelin Hall, an authentic European-style Biergarten known for its expansive indoor and outdoor spaces, will let voters engage directly with Hamm and pose questions about his policies and vision for New Jersey.

Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop expressed enthusiasm about the event, highlighting its importance in allowing voters to connect with candidates before the primary elections.

U.S. Senate candidate Lawrence ‘Larry’ Hamm is the only contender for the 2024 Democratic nomination who does not command a six-figure income and did not support corrupt Senator Bob Menendez in the 2018 primary race.

“This is a great opportunity to hear directly from the candidates ahead of our primary election in June and ask your questions,” said Fulop.

Hamm’s like journey has been marked by significant milestones in politics and activism, ranging from his role as the founder of the People’s Organization for Progress to his chairmanship of Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign in New Jersey.

His commitment to social justice and community empowerment is reflected in his recently published autobiography, “Lawrence Hamm: A Life In The Struggle.”

The autobiography, co-authored by Annette Alston, delves into Hamm’s lifelong dedication to social justice causes, from his early activism as a high school student in the 1970s to his leadership in various movements addressing police brutality, economic justice, and civil rights.

Hamm’s decision to seek the U.S. Senate seat held by Robert Menendez preceded the lawmaker’s historic second indictment on federal bribery charges and he is the only contender in the June 4 election who did not support Menendez in 2018, when progressive primary challenger Lisa McCormick took away nearly four of ten votes cast.

With Menendez facing federal bribery charges and the political establishment that supported him falling in behind another foreign policy hawk, Congressman Andy Kim, Hamm’s candidacy represents a grassroots push for a new perspective.

New Jersey’s political landscape is dominated by power brokers and corporate oligarchs, who desperately want to prevent someone like Hamm from succeeding.

Hamm’s upcoming appearance at Zeppelin Hall is a pivotal opportunity for voters to engage directly with his campaign so they may learn about his platform and vision for a more equitable and inclusive future.
