Detectives investigating a fatal Friday afternoon shooting of Camden man

Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a man on Friday afternoon in Camden.

The incident occurred on Friday, May 17, 2024, at approximately 12:22 p.m. when the Camden County Police Department received a ShotSpotter activation indicating gunfire in the area of the 800 block of Princeton Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was identified as Marcus Corbitt, 24, of Camden, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

Corbitt was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:15 p.m. The authorities have confirmed that the investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing.
