Al Gore endorses Kamala Harris: ‘The kind of climate champion we need’

Former Vice President Al Gore endorsed Vice President Harris for president on Sunday, joining a chorus of Democrats supporting her bid to replace President Biden as the party’s likely nominee.

Harris has garnered a majority of delegates for the Democratic nomination to oppose Republican Donald Trump following President Joe Biden’s decision not to run again.

Gore, a prominent environmental activist, cited Harris’s past support for action addressing climate change in making his endorsement.

Harris started as a prosecutor right out of law school, working her way up the ranks and staying with the Democrats all along, ultimately winning elections as district attorney and then California state attorney general.

At the local and state level she made her mark in a number of prosecutions, including environmental ones.

She took on big oil companies, suing Chevron over hazardous waste and ConocoPhillips over gas station violations.
