An investigation conducted by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force (MCHTF) and the Trenton Police Department has resulted in the arrest of a Pennsylvania man for the shooting death of Amir Williams.
Williams was the capital city’s 12th murder victim of the year.
Rashawn Ford, 37, of Morrisville, Pa., is charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and multiple weapons offenses including certain persons not to possess a firearm.
He was arrested Wednesday morning, August 28, in Bensalem, Pa., by the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Theresa L. Hilton’s office will file a motion to detain Ford pending trial.
At approximately 11:30 p.m on Thursday, July 4, 2024, Trenton Police responded to the 800 block of Stuyvesant Avenue on a shooting in progress, according to Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson.
Responding officers arrived on scene to discover an adult male on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.
The victim was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where a short time later he was pronounced dead.
The victim was identified as Amir Williams, 32, of Trenton.
During the investigation, a second victim, an adult female, arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the right hip area.
