Twelve White House lawyers who served former presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris over disgraced former President Donald Trump, whom they described as a danger to the nation.

“We endorse Kamala Harris and support her election as President because we believe that returning former President Trump to office would threaten American democracy and undermine the rule of law in our country,” the lawyers wrote in a letter

A day after former Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger, one of only a few elected Republicans who tried to hold Trump to account for his effort to retain power after the 2020 election, spoke of his experience in the House of Representatives dealing with Trump, like other speakers and like many Americans, was not pro-Harris, as such, but anti-Trump.

“I’ve learned something about the Democratic Party, and I want to let my fellow Republicans in on the secret: The Democrats are as patriotic as us,” Kinzinger said after acknowledging that he’d never expected to speak at a Democratic convention. “They love this country just as much as we do. And they are as eager to defend American values at home and abroad as we conservatives have ever been.”

Harris was also endorsed by hundreds of former government officials who worked in Republican administrations and former Vice President Dick Cheney, who was second to President George W. Bush, Jr. as well as secretary of Defense during Operation Desert Storm, a Wyoming congressman, and an aide in the Nixon White House.
