Detectives are investigating a shooting that killed a man in Runnemede on Wednesday evening, the first homicide in the 2-square-mile borough since June 2020.
On September 25, 2024, at approximately 6:03 p.m., Runnemede Police officers responded to Forrest Avenue for a report of a male victim who was shot, according to Runnemede Police Chief William Sampolski.
The victim was identified by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay as Neville Molyneaux, 38, of Blackwood, who was transported to Cooper University Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 7:11 p.m.
The search continues for the gunman in the deadly shooting that rattled residents in what they say is a quiet and safe neighborhood.
“I put the dogs out and as soon as I opened up the door that’s when I heard it – the rapid fire – then the dogs came running right back in,” said Brad Syracuse. “We always thought Runnemede was a quiet town, and when this happens now it makes it kind of questionable.”
“I thought it was fireworks going off, and then it went ‘boom, boom, boom, boom,’ and I said, ‘No, that’s gunshots,'” said Pat Rodriguez, who said it’s not unusual for families to be outside in the evening and even setting off fireworks, so that’s what she initially thought was happening.
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office has not released details about what led up to the shooting but Runnemede police used Facebook to tell residents that there is no threat to the public.
The investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Erica DiLolle of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit at (856) 225-5539 and Detective Michael Waters of the Runnemede Police Department at (856) 939-0330, ext.1013.

Molyneaux, a graduate of Camden County High School, was shot around 6 p.m. Wednesday on Forrest Avenue, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. He died shortly after 7 p.m. at an area hospital.
It was when a woman shot her boyfriend in a motel along East 9th Street.
The shooter in the 2020 incident, 37-year-old Brandy Lee of Runnemede, is serving a 23-year prison term for aggravated manslaughter.
