World Space Week

World Space Week is “an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition” observed annually from October 4 to 10 in over 95 nations throughout the planet.

The largest space event on Earth, UN declared that World Space Week is held annually from October 4-10 to celebrate the contribution of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition.

World Space Week consists of numerous space-related events held by government agencies, aerospace companies, schools, planetaria, museums, astronomy clubs, and others in a common timeframe to achieve greater student and public impact through synchronization.

As part of World Space Week’s theme, “Space and Climate Change,” event sponsors are seeking to highlight 25 innovative companies that are actively contributing to climate change mitigation.

World Space Week Association is the global coordinator of the event and an international non-government, non-profit organization, that serves as a permanent observer on the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.

Founded in 1982, the association is one of the world’s longest-standing space advocacy organizations and voluntary contributions from sponsors including Spire Global, Sierra Nevada Corporation, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Viasat, Vast, SES, Airbus, and Kuwait Investment Company support it.

The association’s goal is to emphasize the critical role that the space industry plays in addressing climate change. By spotlighting such companies, we aim to inspire further innovation and collaboration both within the industry and beyond.

An amazing weekend of innovation and problem-solving at the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024 in Caldwell, for the very first time! Organized by the Caldwell Astronomy Club along with Caldwell University, this event is part of the largest annual global hackathon comprise New Jersey’s contribution to World Space Week.

All ages, skill levels, and professional backgrounds are welcome, whether you’re a seasoned coder, a curious student, or simply passionate about space, there’s a place for you at NASA Space Apps Caldwell. You do not need a STEM background, as challenges can also test your artistic skills and business acumen.
