Louis Goldenberg, 41, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was sentenced today to 120 months in prison for his conviction of attempted online enticement of a minor to engage in prostitution.
Goldenberg had previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Christine P. O’Hearn to one count of attempted online enticement of a minor.
According to court documents and statements made during proceedings, Goldenberg engaged in explicit conversations with an undercover agent posing as a middle-aged woman with a 12-year-old niece.
The interactions took place on a messaging application between August and September 2023.
During these conversations, Goldenberg repeatedly expressed his intent to engage in sexual activity with the minor.
He specified a hotel in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, as the location for the encounter. On September 18, 2023, Goldenberg traveled from Pennsylvania to the hotel, where he had reserved a room. Upon his arrival, he was arrested by law enforcement officers.
In addition to the 10-year prison term, Judge O’Hearn sentenced Goldenberg to five years of supervised release and mandated that he register as a sex offender.
Acting U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna acknowledged the efforts of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Newark, led by Acting Special Agent in Charge Spiros Karabinas, in conducting the investigation. He also expressed gratitude to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and the Mount Laurel Police Department for their assistance in the case.
The government’s case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Katelyn Waegener of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Camden. Goldenberg was represented by defense counsel Rocco C. Cipparone, Jr., Esq.
