Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL) is set to host its highly anticipated “Power in the Pines” airshow on May 17–18, 2025.

This year’s event, themed “Joint Warfighters: Honor. Inspire. Innovate.,” will showcase the power, precision, and skill of some of the world’s top aerial performers, including the renowned U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.

The Thunderbirds, the U.S. Air Force’s elite demonstration squadron, will headline the event with their signature F-16 Fighting Falcon performances.

The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, performs precision aerial maneuvers demonstrating the capabilities of Air Force high performance aircraft to people throughout the world.

Known for their dynamic aerial displays, the Thunderbirds have inspired millions of spectators worldwide since their formation in 1953. Their performances highlight the pride, professionalism, and dedication of the U.S. Air Force, featuring breathtaking maneuvers that demonstrate speed, agility, and teamwork.

In addition to the Thunderbirds, the airshow will feature a variety of aerial demonstrations by modern and heritage aircraft, offering attendees a glimpse into the evolution of military aviation.

On the ground, visitors can explore static aircraft displays, interactive exhibits, food vendors, and family-friendly activities. The event is designed to appeal to aviation enthusiasts and families alike, providing a unique opportunity to celebrate air power and the men and women who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.

“Power in the Pines” is free and open to the public, with additional details, including parking and the full schedule, to be announced closer to the event date. In past years, shuttle buses have transported attendees onto the base, ensuring convenient access for all visitors.

The Thunderbirds’ appearance marks a return to New Jersey after their last performance in the state at the 2023 Atlantic City Airshow, which was held for the first time in five years at Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst (JBMDL).

The 2023 airshow was open to the public, drawing over 80,000 visitors over the course of the three days. That show included performances by the Golden Knights, stunts and flyovers by fixed and rotary wing aircraft such as F-16’s and UH-60 Blackhawks, and a variety of static displays.

The event was abruptly canceled in 2024 after a major act withdrew, making the 2025 “Power in the Pines” airshow a highly anticipated event for aviation fans in the region.

The 2016 show attracted 350,000 attendees.
