A 23-year-old Trenton man has been arrested and charged in connection with a violent sexual assault reported earlier this month, authorities announced.
Jahassan Jones faces multiple felony charges, including three counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, following a joint investigation by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Trenton Police Department.
Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey stated that Jones is additionally charged with two counts of second-degree aggravated assault, two counts of third-degree aggravated assault with a weapon, and one count of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
He was apprehended in Trenton on May 7, 2025, and the prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain him pending trial.
According to the investigation, the victim reported that on the evening of May 6, Jones allegedly struck her repeatedly in the head with a rock after she refused his demand for sexual intercourse, causing her to fall to the ground.
Authorities allege he then used a sharp glass object to stab her, forcibly removed her clothing, and sexually assaulted her. Jones was found in possession of heroin at the time of his arrest. The victim remains hospitalized due to the severity of her injuries.
The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that the investigation remains active.
