Did you see that?

By Stewart Resmer

Yesterday, June14, 2025, was a historic and memorable day when many thousands of people in hundreds of cities and towns all across America took to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with current state of affairs of an administration led by a man who they perceive would be king.

Time and again he has violated these numerous and manifold compound principals for which we stand, not the least among those is the long held doctrine that no man is above the law.

Yet, here we are, witness to the repeated pattern of defiance displayed by him and his ministers and agents at every given opportunity we can cite and recall in our time.

Did you see that?

Did you see him and his phalanx of armed forces on parade in the streets of the nations capitol in a military display of might, that numbered but only 6,000 troops under arms flanked by machines and weapons of wars pass and review hail to the chief, versus the masses of humanity sea gathered at the very same hour’s elsewhere, armed with but the 1st Amendments lethal arsenal of assembly, association and freedom of expression that shall not be abridged?

Did you see that?

(The world did too)

As the battle tanks turbine screamed and centipede like tracks rumbled and lumbered, the flying machines of war soared, while down on the ground, the common foot soldiers combat boots cadence floated on the breezes and the canon roared its ceremonial reports blast and flash of powders acrid smoke that watered the witness eye and rang the ear and stung the brains olfactory just as quickly dissipated, the thunderous echoes of The People reverberated louder and longer off the concrete canyons and multiplied the messages volume and import of the multitudes of singular voices harmoniously in unison and common language and purpose now carried as one:

No Kings Since 1776.

Did you see that, Mister President, it was directed at you, and you alone.

Take heed sir of histories examples and admonitions warnings, take them not at your own peril I do caution, thus be the lesson of dictatorship and tyrants and kings hung by the neck until dead, or heads that roll at the guillotines blade fall, or assassin’s well aimed bullet strikes the head, or Caesar’s own bloody demise, or fascist hung by their heels in the public square by the vengeful evil tide in the affairs of men after that long train of abuses.

Did you see that in wary obeisance or braggadocio contemptuously dare?

What measure of penance circumspection prayer would we hear or divine from silent bended knee and bowed head if at all before the fall, or be cut down in defiant unrepentant final stand at the high executioners own gloved hand?
