How a party of cowards serving oligarchs lost America and learned nothing

Chuck Schumer and Cory Booker are the Vichy Democrats, who collaborated with Trump Republicans to pass massive billionaire tax cuts, slash government spending, and permit more financial fraud against consumers.

Eight months after Kamala Harris’ humiliating defeat, the Democratic Party remains a ship adrift in a hurricane of its own making—a bloated, rudderless vessel captained by tone-deaf elites who still believe the problem was messaging, not the rot festering in their own ranks.

New polling from Priorities USA reveals a damning truth: nearly half of Americans haven’t heard a single word about the GOP’s apocalyptic budget bill, a legislative neutron bomb designed to incinerate Medicaid, gut Social Security, and shovel another trillion in tax cuts to the billionaire class.

But why would they? The Democratic “resistance” has been too busy sipping chardonnay at Ritz-Carlton donor retreats, rubbing shoulders with the same Silicon Valley robber barons who’ve spent decades immiserating the working class.

“Neoliberal frauds like Cory Booker would rather French-braid their own tongues around Wall Street talking points than lift a finger to fight for the people they pretend to represent,” said progressive firebrand Lisa McCormick, who contended that establishment Democrats traded their spines for Super PAC checks. “You think a party bankrolled by Michael Bloomberg and Bill Gates gives a damn about some single mom in New Jersey choosing between insulin and rent? Wake up. The oligarchy owns both sides now.”

McCormick said Chuck Schumer and Cory Booker are the Vichy Democrats, who collaborated with Trump Republicans to pass massive billionaire tax cuts, slash government spending, and permit more financial fraud against consumers.

After Schumer betrayed them by giving a green light to a stopgap spending bill that let GOP Congress avert a government shutdown in March, Booker distracted furious grassroots activists who complained that party bosses were not sufficiently opposing MAGA Republicans.

Booker raised about $10 million after his 25-hour speech, anger directed at Schumer subsided, and the Trump administration has had a clear run of legislative victories including the “Big Beautiful Bill,” a $9 billion rescissions package, and the Genius Act, which is a handout to cryptocurrency con artists.

The numbers don’t lie—they scream. While 32% of Americans recall Trump’s latest bombing spree in Iran, a pathetic 8% can name the GOP’s evisceration of Medicaid as a feature of their so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.”

The reason? Vichy Democrats have perfected the art of preaching to the choir while the church burns. Their media strategy—obsessed with focus-grouped platitudes and BlueSky echo chambers—can’t compete with the right’s propaganda machine.

Joe Rogan’s audience dwarfs MeidasTouch by 3-to-1. Twitter/X remains a right-wing fever swamp, swallowing Gen Z whole while Democratic operatives wring their hands over “messaging discipline.”

And who’s paying the price? The very voters Democrats claim to champion.

Black, Latino, and working-class Americans—the backbone of any viable coalition—remain in the dark.

Biden-to-Trump defectors? More than half haven’t heard a peep about the horrific spending measure. Gen Z, the generation Democrats desperately need? They’re drowning in algorithmically amplified nihilism, their political awareness stunted by a party too busy courting plutocrats to bother fighting on TikTok.

Meanwhile, the GOP’s demolition derby rolls on, unimpeded by legitimate opposition.

The “Big Beautiful Bill” isn’t just policy—it’s a declaration of war on the poor, the sick, the young.

It’s a $1 trillion heist; a transfer of wealth so brazen it would make the Gilded Age blush.

“Vichy Democrats are still hosting wine-and-cheese fundraisers in Half Moon Bay, scratching their heads and wondering why nobody’s listening,” said McCormick.

“Here’s the brutal truth, served neat with a whiskey back: You can’t rebuild a movement with the same consultants who burned it down,” said McCormick. “You can’t rally the working class while taking Mark Zuckerberg’s money and you sure as hell can’t win a war when your generals are on the enemy’s payroll.”

The clock’s ticking. The GOP’s knives are out. And the establishment Democrats are emailing their donor lists.

Nobody is going to save us, but we all can band together to fight the oligarchy and save ourselves.
