Rosie O’Donnell is returning to Broadway, if only briefly.
O’Donnell will join the Tony-nominated revival of “The Rocky Horror Show” as the Narrator for a two-week engagement from Oct. 6 through Oct. 18 at Studio 54, producers announced Tuesday.
She steps in while current Narrator Rachel Dratch takes a short leave from the production. Dratch returns on Oct. 20.
The casting marks O’Donnell’s first return to Broadway in more than two decades, excluding a 2014 appearance at the Tony Awards. Her previous Broadway credits include “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Seussical” and “Grease.”
Most recently, O’Donnell performed her one-woman show, “Common Knowledge,” off-Broadway at the Daryl Roth Theatre in July. The autobiographical production, directed by Gabriel Barre, reflects on her move from the United States to Dublin, Ireland, and the cultural shift her family experienced .
The current cast of “The Rocky Horror Show” includes Jake Shears as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Lorna Courtney as Janet, Kevin McHale as Brad, Amber Gray as Riff Raff, Jimin Moon as Rocky, George Salazar as Eddie/Dr. Scott, Sherie Rene Scott as Magenta and Valentina as Columbia.
Directed by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton (“Oh, Mary!”), the revival began previews March 26 and opened April 23 at Studio 54. It has received nine Tony Award nominations, including Best Revival of a Musical, and broke the house record at Studio 54 in June with a weekly box office gross of $1,215,225.
The production is currently scheduled to run through Feb. 28, 2027. Tickets range from $66 to $318.
