Democratic candidates slam party bosses who canceled primary for Biden

Democratic presidential candidates Marianne Williamson and Cenk Uygur held a joint news conference to announce that they are challenging the Florida Democratic Party’s (FDP) recent rule changes that effectively cancel the state’s Democratic primary and award all delegates to President Joe Biden.

The Florida Democratic Party left Williamson and Uygur off the primary presidential ballot.

“This is an unprecedented attack on democracy,” said Williamson. “The Florida Democratic Party is trying to silence the voices of Democratic voters and handpick the winner of the state’s primary. We will not stand for it.”

Uygur agreed, calling the FDP’s actions “undemocratic and unconstitutional.”

“The FDP is acting like a bunch of dictators,” said Uygur. “They are trying to rig the election so that Joe Biden can win the nomination without having to face the voters.”

Williamson and Uygur are calling on the FDP to reverse its decision and allow all qualified candidates to compete in the Florida Democratic primary. They are also urging the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to take action against the FDP for its violations of party rules.

“We are confident that we will win this fight,” said Williamson. “The Democratic voters of Florida deserve to have their voices heard.”

“The FDP’s decision is a slap in the face to Democratic voters in Florida,” said Williamson. “We are not going to let them get away with this.”

“The FDP is trying to protect the incumbent, but they are forgetting that the Democratic Party is supposed to be the party of the people,” said Uygur. “The people of Florida deserve to have a say in who their nominee is.”

“This is a test of our democracy,” said Williamson. “If we allow the FDP to get away with this, then it will set a dangerous precedent for the future of our party.”

“We are calling on all Democrats in Florida to stand up with us and fight for our right to vote,” said Uygur. “Together, we can defeat this attack on democracy.”
