A 16-year-old was injured Sunday during a daytime shooting in Paterson

Paterson Police Department officers responding to a report of a shooting in the area of 12th Avenue and Auburn Street about 2:39 p.m. found a 16-year-old gunshot victim, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.

Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi said the victim was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment for non-fatal gunshot wounds.

The investigation remains active and ongoing and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office asks anyone with information about this incident to contact the tips line at 1-877-370-PCPO or tips@passaiccountynj.org or contact the Paterson Police Shooting Investigation Unit at 973-321-1342.

This is one of the 205 gun violence incidents across the United States that were recorded over the weekend by the Gun Violence Archive, which said 75 victims were killed, 155 victims were injured, 12 suspects were killed, 10 suspects were injured 29 suspects were arrested.
