Teen charged with murder in senseless Mount Holly, New Jersey shooting

Murder victim Andre Ross

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with the murder of Andre Ross, a 25-year-old father, brother, and son, who was shot and killed in Mount Holly, New Jersey, on September 22, 2025.

The teen has been charged in the deadly shooting of a man near Mill Dam Park in Mount Holly, New Jersey, last month, officials said.

The teen suspect, who was also from Mount Holly, was taken into custody on October 9, 2025, and is facing charges of first-degree murder and weapons offenses.

The 14-year-old boy was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and related offenses, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday. The teen was not identified since he’s a minor.

The teen is accused of fatally shooting Andre Ross, 25, at Wall and Pine streets near the park on Monday, Sept. 22, prosecutors said.

Police responded to the shooting at Mill Dam Park near Wall and Pine Streets around 5:45 p.m. on Monday.

Ross was shot once in the back and died at the scene, according to prosecutors.

Ross’ family is grieving his tragic death after he was shot at Mill Dam Park in Mount Holly, Burlington County.

A GoFundMe page established by Ross’ mother Latanya Ross said her son was the victim of “senseless gun violence.”

“We are asking for donations to help offset funeral expenses,” said Latanya Ross, who said they have no insurance to cover burial expenses. “I will be grateful for any amount and anything extra will help with his daughter.”

Andre’s aunt, Shanika Ross, expressed her sorrow. “I’m still in disbelief, it finally hit me this morning really bad, and I just can’t believe I’m here,” said Ross.

“He protected all of us. I’m the oldest, and he’s the second oldest, and I’m just heartbroken,” his sister, Latisha Cosom, shared. “I’m still in disbelief. I feel like I really can’t believe it until I actually see his body.”

Andre Ross was described by his family as a loving and humble person who had a passion for rap music.

Most importantly, he was a devoted father to his daughter, who was his pride and joy. His family believes that fatherhood matured him and became the center of his world.

Prosecutors said the teen will be held in Ocean County pending a hearing in Superior Court.
