Six wounded in New Jersey shootings; three found dead in separate investigation

Six people were wounded in shootings in Trenton and Sicklerville over the weekend, while authorities investigated the deaths of three people found with apparent gunshot wounds inside a Montgomery Township home Friday.

The latest shooting occurred Sunday night at a Wawa on the 400 block of Sicklerville Road in the Sicklerville section of Winslow Township. Officers responded around 9 p.m. to a report of a gunshot victim, police said.

Two people were taken to a hospital for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately available, and police said the shooting remained under investigation.

In Trenton, two men and two women were wounded shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday on Carroll Street, according to police.

The victims — men ages 24 and 22 and women ages 21 and 18 — were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where they were listed in stable condition with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Mayor Reed Gusciora said the shooting might have stemmed from a garage party. The Mercer County Shooting Response Team was investigating, and no arrests had been reported.

Anyone with information about the Trenton shooting is asked to call police at 609-989-4000 or 609-989-4155.

In Somerset County, Montgomery Township police discovered two women and a man dead inside a home on Wild Azalea Lane in the Skillman section Friday evening.

The women were found in separate bedrooms with apparent gunshot wounds. The man had what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police initially went to the home around 3 p.m. Thursday after receiving a request to check on its occupants but were unable to contact anyone inside. Officers entered the residence around 5:50 p.m. Friday and discovered the bodies.

Authorities had not released the identities of the deceased pending identification. Postmortem examinations were scheduled to determine their causes and manners of death. The investigation involves township police, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and the Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

Montgomery Police Chief Silvio Bet told The Montgomery News that there was no further threat to the community.

Anyone with information about the Montgomery Township deaths is asked to contact the prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit at 908-231-7100 or township police at 908-359-3222. Community News
