BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Residents, students and state Sen. Jon Bramnick gathered Sunday afternoon at the Bernards Township municipal complex for the township’s annual Field of Honor ceremony recognizing military veterans, according to Bramnick’s office.
Among the veterans honored was a 100-year-old Marine Corps veteran, the senator’s office said. Local Girl Scouts led the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Ridge High School Orchestra performed the national anthem.
“Thank you to all of our Veterans and their families for their service and for the volunteers who made today’s event possible,” Bramnick said in a statement.
The Field of Honor display features more than 300 flags on the front lawn of the municipal complex, according to the release. Members of the public are encouraged to dedicate a flag in honor or in memory of a veteran.
Donations directly support Community Hope’s Hope for Veterans programs at the Lyons VA campus in Bernards Township, Bramnick’s office said. Those programs provide a safe haven every day for 106 homeless and disabled veterans, according to the release.
Bramnick represents the 21st Legislative District, which includes parts of Middlesex, Morris, Somerset and Union counties.
