TRENTON, N.J. — Five state legislators who represent Burlington County are asking residents to donate new, unwrapped toys for the county’s Toys for Tots program, according to the New Jersey Senate Democrats.
State Sen. Troy Singleton, Assemblywoman Carol Murphy, Assemblyman Balvir Singh, Assemblywoman Andrea Katz and Assemblyman Anthony Angelozzi will accept donations at their district offices from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, until Friday, Dec. 11.
Singleton said the local program told the lawmakers that demand is high this year. He said the Burlington County Toys for Tots program helped more than 91,000 local children last holiday season.
“Toys for Tots is a program that has been assisting families in need during the holidays for generations. This year, our local Burlington County program informed us the need is very great, and they could use our assistance,” Singleton said. “We are answering the call for help, and hoping the community will join us, so that children in need will have a joyful holiday.”
“The holiday season can be especially difficult for families facing financial hardships,” Murphy said. “Our goal is to ease the burden and help ensure the children in our community are able to experience the magic of the holidays no matter what.”
“A small act of kindness can make a real difference for children and families in need,” Singh said.
Katz pointed to the financial strain many households face. “So many people are struggling to pay their bills and put food on the table right now, and the Toys for Tots campaign has helped area families have a brighter holiday for years. We are happy to be part of it,” she said.
“Families across Burlington County deserve to enjoy a normal holiday season without added financial stress,” Angelozzi said.
Toys can be dropped off at these offices:
- Singleton: 400 North Church St., Suite 260, Moorestown
- Murphy: 750 Centerton Road, Mount Laurel
- Singh: Delran Professional Center, 8008 Route 130 North, Building C, Suite 450, Delran
- Katz: 100 High St., Suite 101, Mount Holly
- Angelozzi: 135 Jackson Road, Suite 1B, Medford
Burlington County families seeking help from the program can apply through Nov. 11, the release said. Those who contact the program after that date will be placed on a waiting list. Applications are available on the Burlington County Toys for Tots website.
