A 65-year-old Blackwood man has been charged after an armed robbery at a Gloucester Township pharmacy led to a police-involved shooting Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Michael Dougherty was identified as the suspect in the robbery at the CVS on the 700 block of College Drive, Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Gloucester Township Police Chief Anthony Minosse said.
Gloucester Township police responded about 4:15 p.m. to a report of a robbery. When an officer arrived, he encountered Dougherty armed and actively engaged in the robbery inside the pharmacy, authorities said. Dougherty pointed a firearm at the officer, according to the announcement.
The officer retreated to safety and drew his service weapon, authorities said. The encounter led to a police-involved shooting.
